The
Monduli mountains lie to the north-west of Arusha town, about 35km, (1 hour drive
to this region). The surroundin area is inhabited by the Maasai tribe. The forest
on the Mondulu mountains is alive with wildlife, Bufallo, Elephant and other forest
dwellers can be seen here. There are good climbing opportunities to the summut
of Monduli mountain with views of Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru on clear days. Any
trekking done in this area must be with an armed ranger due to the wildlife. At
the foothills lies Enguik village and there is a variety of different styles of
traditional buildings known as Bomas, these are made from tree branches and packed
with a mixture of cow dung and mud.
